CUPS - "cupsd: Unable to read configuration file '/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting!" - SOLVED

To fix this error, make sure the following section in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf is edited as shown below:

# Default authentication type, when authentication is required...
DefaultAuthType None
DefaultEncryption IfRequested

If "DefaultEncryption IfRequested" is instead set to "DefaultEncryption None", you will get the following errors when restarting CUPS:

# service cups restart
Stopping cups:                                             [FAILED]
Starting cups:
Message from syslogd@thinkpad at Mar 22 13:08:18 ...
 cupsd: Unable to read configuration file '/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting!
cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
                                                           [FAILED]
