Stop Low-Level Messages From Flooding Your Console on CentOS

I wanted to stop iptables from flooding my console with messages. Running "cat /proc/sys/kernel/printk" revealed that my settings were "7 4 1 7"

There are three ways; two are temporary, where your settings are lost after a reboot, while the other is permanent:

Temporary:
Either
# echo "4 4 1 7" > /proc/sys/kernel/printk

or

# sysctl -w  kernel.printk

Permanent:
Add or edit the following section in your /etc/sysctl.conf:

# Uncomment the following to stop low-level messages on console
kernel.printk = 4 4 1 7
