Xorg Configuration on FreeBSD

Install Xorg:
$ pkg_add -r xorg
Depending on your system, this will take a while.

Configure Xorg:
$ su root
# X -configure
# cd

Verification:
# Xorg -config xorg.conf.new -retro
If a black and grey grid and an X mouse cursor appear, then it worked. To exit the test, on your keyboard:
<CTRL+Alt+F1>
then
<CTRL+C>

Copy this working configuration to /etc/X11:
# cp -v xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Updated - 5/28/13:
Add the following to /etc/rc.conf:
hald_enable="YES"
dbus_enable="YES"
